Lady Falcons Shoot Past Livingstone 97-71

RALEIGH, N.C. – Freshman guard Regime McCombs (Greenville, S.C.) scored 23 of her career-high 29 points in the first half to guide Saint Augustine’s University over Livingstone University 97-71 in a CIAA women’s basketball game at Emery Gymnasium on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013.
The Lady Falcons are now 10-9 overall, 6-4 in the CIAA and 3-1 in the Southern Division after the win. The Lady Blue Bears are 7-12 overall, 3-7 in the CIAA and 1-3 in the Southern Division.

McCombs, who came off the bench, was 6 of 12 from the floor including 5 of 10 from three-point range. She also was a perfect 12 of 12 from the free throw line. The 5-6 guard was one point away from her career-high by halftime. This performance comes after she was named CIAA women’s basketball rookie of the week on Monday.

McCombs carried the Lady Falcons to a 49-39 halftime lead. The 49 points were a season high for the Lady Falcons in the first half. The Lady Falcons blew the contest open with a 28-11 run to open the second half for a 77-50 lead with 9:34 left in the game. The 97 points were a season high for the Lady Falcons.
McCombs Shoots Lady Falcons Past Livingstone 97-71 Freshman guard Porscha Walton (Chesterfield, Va.) and freshman guard Jeanne-Marie Wilson (Temple Hills, Md.) both added 11 points while sophomore guard Jasmine Cuffee (Norfolk, Va.) scored 10 points for the Lady Falcons, who scored 39 points on 33 Livingstone turnovers. McCombs led a Lady Falcons bench which outscored the Lady Blue Bears bench 65-26. Kelcyn Manurs led Livingstone with 18 points. Ashley Walker added 14 points and Jasmine Murray scored 12 for the Lady Blue Bears. The Lady Falcons have played six out of seven games at home in January. They will embark on a three-game road trip in February starting Saturday, Feb. 2, at Fayetteville State starting at 1 p.m.
