MLK Day observance set for Jan. 21

GetFileAttachmentThe university will host a Martin Luther King Jr. observance program on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at 11 a.m. in the Emery Gymnasium. The guest speaker will Pastor Bankole Akinbinu, Baptist Grove Church located 7109 Leesville Road, Raleigh, NC.

Having been raised in the church, Pastor Bankole Akinbinu was set apart to serve and proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ at an early age. Pastor Akinbinu accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior at the age of ten and was later called into the gospel ministry at 16 years old. On June 16, 2001, he preached his trial sermon at Community Bible Baptist Church in Prince George’s County, Maryland. After serving eight years as a licensed minister, he was ordained in September 2009.

Pastor Akinbinu is committed to education. He began his undergraduate studies at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va., transferring his sophomore year to Washington Bible College in Lanham, Maryland, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Bible theology. In May 2010, Rev. Akinbinu was conferred the Master’s of Divinity Degree from Princeton Theological Seminary in Princeton, N.J. To read more about Pastor Akinbinu, click HERE.
