Lady Falcons crushed by Lincoln University

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. – Sycoya Dorsey (Jr./Richmond, VA) posted a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds for Saint Augustine’s University in a 72-46 CIAA women’s basketball loss to Lincoln (Pa.) University at Rivero Hall on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016.
Dorsey added three assists and one steal for the Lady Falcons, who scored 26 points in the paint. Ashanti Reid (Jr./Statesville, NC) finished with seven points and six rebounds and Ke-Ashe Lee (So./Roanoke, VA) scored seven points.
Dorsey scored five points in the third quarter to help the Lady Falcons cut a 15-point halftime deficit. Khadijah Payne (So./Gloucester, VA) scored a layup to pull the Lady Falcons within 37-31, but the Lady Lions finished the game with a 35-15 run, including a 21-9 spurt in the fourth quarter, for the final margin.
Amani Clark scored 18 points and Jaeda Davis added 17 points for the Lady Lions (8-5 overall, 3-2 CIAA), who scored 24 points off 29 Lady Falcon turnovers. Teira Pendleton added 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Dorsey scored eight points in the first half including four points in the game’s first four minutes as the Lady Falcons led 4-3 and 6-5. The Lady Lions went ahead for good on two Pendleton free throws and opened a 35-20 lead at halftime. Clark and Pendleton each scored seven points in the first half.
The Lady Falcons (3-11 overall, 0-5 CIAA) played their best basketball in the third quarter. Led by Dorsey, they outscored the Lady Lions 17-16 before the home team pulled away in the fourth quarter.
The Lady Falcons will conclude their three-game road trip against CIAA Northern Division teams on Monday, Jan. 11, when they visit Virginia Union University in Richmond, Va., at 5:30 p.m. This will be the Lady Falcons’ third game in five days.
