Food kiosk finally opens in library

The long-awaited food kiosk opened this morning in the Prezell R. Robinson Library. The kiosk sells coffee, drinks, muffins and other assorted snacks and convenience foods and will function as  “grab and go” facility.

Despite the limited menu, the kiosk was eagerly awaited especially because  the Grill — the only other option to the main cafeteria available on campus — has been shut down since last year for renovation.

The kiosk opened with a ribbon-cutting, and free samples of baked goods were offered to visitors. The kiosk is located in a space that formerly served as a meeting room; the room has been converted to a coffee shop-type atmosphere with wooden tables and chairs placed around the room.

Students, faculty and staff immediately took advantage of the kiosk. It had sold out of most varieties by midday.

Austin Keith, a senior majoring in sociology, and Tiffany Moses, a senior majoring in human performance and wellness, were seated at one of the tables reading and sipping tea and coffee, respectively, and munching on the free samples.

“This is really good,” Moses said. Keith added: “I’m definitely going to come back here often.”
