Day of events marks SAU’s 150-year legacy

Legacy Tour_UPDATED
September 23 is Legacy Day at Saint Augustine’s University. The Office of Marketing and Communications has issued the following announcement with regard to ceremonies on that day:

On Saturday, September 23, from 3:30 to 7 p.m., Saint Augustine’s University (SAU) will host a legacy tour. The tour will reflect on the 150-year history of the University by way of interactive exhibits and live theatrical performances across the institution’s historic campus nestled in the Oakwood community.

Tour participants will end the evening with live music, heavy hors d’oeuvres and cocktails.
The short theatrical productions taking place during the Legacy Tour will be composed of both traditional and non-traditional performances that describe famous and historic people who have been connected to Saint Augustine’s University throughout its 150-year history. Weaved into the program will be selections by the University Choir. Local actors and artists will also partake in the event.
The University invites SAU family and supporters, as well as the greater Raleigh-Durham community to come out to celebrate the rich legacy of a local treasure. As the nation celebrates HBCU Week, the University is providing an engaging opportunity for citizens of the Triangle to come learn about an HBCU that has contributed to Raleigh, the State of North Carolina and beyond for 150 years.
The cost of the event is $18.67 in honor of the founding year of the University. Attendees are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes.
