Another come back

1BD549DB-6F9E-43FB-A6E8-5CCC5D4F2D1CThe Falcons’ football team is on a two-game winning streak – a big improvement over last year, when they only won one game the while season. The Falcons won for the second straight week in exciting fashion with another fourth quarter comeback, this time against the Winston-Salem State University Rams.

 

It was a hard fought defensive of game. The Falcons struck with the first touchdown when Darryl “DJ” Johnson threw a screamer to Sam Boyd and he took it in for a 13-yard touchdown pass. Then the Rams struck back with a touchdown of their own, but the Falcons Tray King blocked the extra point. In the 3rd quarter, the Rams scored again to take the lead.

 

Heading into the 4th quarter the Rams were on top 14-7. Then a couple minutes later into the quarter, Sean Smith kicked a 30-yard field goal to make the score 14-10.

 

With time running down, the Falcons had to regroup after DJ Johnson was injured after a 10 yard run. Demetrius Lewis ,theguy who engineered the game winning drive against Livingstone, came in and was a perfect 3 for 3 for 44 yards including a 35 yard pass to Lenwood Joyner. Then with 29 second left, Lewis tossed to Sam Boyd, who made a one-handed grab to giver the Falcons a 17-14 victory.

 

Wide receivers Coach Frank James summed it up after the game: “Big-time players make big-time plays in big-time games!”

 

Next weekend the Falcons takes on Fayetteville State   University at its Homecoming game.
