Homecoming is here: eight days of activities are in store

Homecoming season is here! An exciting time where the Falcon family from all over, come together to get “LIT”, as the students will say. “This year’s Blue and White Experience may be the biggest yet”, according to Dr. Paul A. Norman, our Director of Student activities. With loads of activities for the week, alumni and students will be able to experience the BWE like no other homecoming. This week will be filled with, laugher, memories and loads of fun.

For this Homecoming week we start the week of with the Alumni basketball game on Saturday October 13th, 2018. Alumnus will compete head to head in an ultimate basketball tournament to help fundraise. Event will be held in the Julia Chester Emery Gymnasium from 8 P.M. to 10 P.M.

Moving into Sunday’s Gospel Explosion on October 14th, 2018. To kick off the week students, faculty and alumni all come together and enjoy an amazing gospel experience with music, dance ministry, choir and much more! Admission of entry is donating a non-perishable item which will be given to people in need. The Gospel Explosion will be taking place in Seby Jones Auditorium from 6:30 P.M. to 8 P.M. Following up later that night with a midnight breakfast jam were students are served with a well-prepared breakfast and hottest DJ to get the students jamming all night long.

Monday October 15th, 2018 is Café Blue: “Meet me at the met “, this is a good time to meet and greet our 2018-2019 royal court just before “the big day “coronation that is later during the week. To top off the day with full of laughter, a live comedy show featuring few of the cast members from the hit MTV show “Wild n’ Out “will be preforming. Comedy show will be held in the Julia Chester Emery gymnasium from 8 P.M. to 10 P.M.

The week still getting warmed up, Pumpkin painting contest on Tuesday October 16th, 2018. A fun time in the cafeteria were students can be creative and get into the fall spirit with designing pumpkins. Meanwhile later that night it’s time to turnup with the Greeks! With headphones! A silent headphone party were students can personally listen to whatever music they want. A new way to turn the party up.

Wednesday October 17th, 2018 is the 1867 break: Falcon Frenzy from 11 A.M. to 2 P.M. It’s a student reunion! Mix and mingle with fellow falcon peers along with music by Brian Dawson and Wade Banner of WQOK 97.5 FM. All while supporting breast cancer awareness month by wearing pink and denim and learning more about breast cancer prevention. Which will be held at Martin Luther King Mall. Following later that evening our lady falcons from all classification will be competing in a powder puff game out on the quadrangle, may the best class win. Game will start from 4 P.M. to 6 P.M.

2018-2019 Mister & Miss Saint Augustine’s University Coronation. The most elegant time of the year, the year to recognizes our universities royal court, clubs and organizations. It is defiantly a night to remember and honor the people that makes our campus great. Event will be held in the Julia Chester Emery Gymnasium at 7 P.M.

Blue White Experience (BWE) Yard fest is here with an all-day interactive event for the students including vendors, food, merchandise and music right at the quadrangle from 11 A.M. to 4 P.M. Afterward, catch the Greeks at the step show battling it out to claim the win. According to Ellis Hill senior business and administration major says, “I am excited because it’s the most lit event and the energy is contagious.” Event located at Julia Chester Emery Gymnasium, doors open at 6 P.M. The night is not over yet, as students dip into the pre-game party to raise the roof.

As we come to wrap up the last day of homecoming Saturday October 20th,2018. The falcon family bring in a one last celebration with the BWE Falcon Village Pre-Game Celebration. Which starts at 9 A.M. to 11 A.M. in the quadrangle where falcons show the mighty falcon football team, team spirit going into their game with Fayetteville State University Broncos. The football game will start at 1 P.M. at the George “pup” Williams Athletic Complex football field. “I am excited to see the undergrads and alumni come together for the tailgate. “I really enjoy the food and the game I believe that’s the best part about homecoming.” According to Mattie Rainey, a junior mass communication major. General admissions fee is 30 dollars. That’s not all while we tie up the week with BWE Falcon Village Post-Game Celebration in the quadrangle featuring go-go/funk band, EU, and special guests from the Atlantic records HBCU tour to end our week off.
