SAU bowlers place fifth among Southern Division teams in CIAA event III

RALEIGH, N.C. (March 11) – Saint Augustine’s University (SAU) finished fifth among Southern Division teams in the CIAA Bowling Event III held at B&B Bowling Lanes in Fayetteville, N.C., over the weekend.

The Lady Falcons posted a 1-11 record and knocked down 9,421 pins in the three-day event, which concluded Sunday, March 10. They defeated Livingstone College 709-544 in a team match on Friday, March 8.

Makayla August (Jr./Palm Springs, CA) bowled the highest average for the Lady Falcons in team matches on Friday and Saturday, March 9. She rolled a 141.80 average including an impressive 208 score against Shaw University on Friday.

Fayetteville State University finished first with an 8-0 record and a 13,727-pin count. Johnson C. Smith University was second with a 6-6 mark and a 10,224-pin count.

Shaw placed third with a 3-6 record and a 10,134-pin count, and Livingstone was fourth with a 5-7 record and a 9,704-pin count.

The CIAA coaches honored 24 seniors during the tournament. The SAU seniors were La’Tricha Parks (Henderson, NC), Haley Sessoms (Kenansville, NC) and Daisa Waiters (Florence, SC).

The CIAA Bowling Event III was the final tournament of the 2018-19 regular season for the Lady Falcons.
