Laughinghouse named NCAA Division II Special Teams Player of the Week

Tyron Laughinghouse of Saint Augustine’s University was one of six players chosen NCAA Division II special teams player of the week by Beyond Sports Network on Monday, Oct. 1, 2012.

Laughinghouse earned the honor as a punt returner. He returned three punts for 105 yards including one for a 77-yard touchdown against Elizabeth City State University in the Down East Viking Classic this past weekend. The Greenville, N.C., native also scored on a 95-yard kickoff return in the same game. Laughinghouse finished with 248 all-purpose yards including 200 return yards against ECSU.

Laughinghouse averages 52.2 yards per kick return which is the highest in Division II. His 22.4 yards per punt return average would rank fourth in Division II if he had the minimum amount of attempts.

This is the second week in a row that Laughinghouse was honored by Beyond Sports Network. BSN is a sports media site that features colleges and players from the FCS, DII, DIII and NAIA levels. Click here to view the BSN athletes of the week.
