What would the world be like without art?

Dr. Synthia Saint James, Saint Augustine’s University’s Artist in Residence, author, actress, poet, and playwright, returned to the campus on Friday, September 21st for a viewing and signing of her latest works of art. SAINT JAMES presented her New Haitian Series of paintings in the Prezell R. Robinson Library, where students, faculty, and staff gathered to hear how she decided to produce portraits with a Haitian cultured background. With her, she brought over 25 paintings of all sizes and an explanatory video as a component to this new Haitian series. Though faceless, the paintings were radiant with colors, vibrant with still-life, and expressive with culture.

SAINT JAMES continues to travel the world and share her artistic expertise. She is committed to garnering support for the Synthia SAINT JAMES Institute located here on campus to support more minorities pursuing art as a career.. She’s also recently written a play, which she will present to the campus community on November 29th in the Seby Jones Auditorium.
