Saint Augustine’s University partnered with Habitat for Humanity to provide community service from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Jan. 21. The students participated in three separate projects:
• Wall Build – Students helped build walls for a five bedroom home that will be occupied by someone in the College Park community. The finished product is on display in front of Goold Hall.
• A Brush With Kindness – Students assisted with exterior repairs, painting and beautification for two homes in College Park on Tarboro Road and Jones Street.
Students were excited about helping out and had the opportunity to sign their names and write an inspirational message for the homeowner on the completed walls.
“Habitat for Humanity was pleased with the response by our students and we are very proud that they once again, rose to the occasion,” said Doris Bullock, associate vice president of External Affairs. “This is a true example of the wonderful students that we have here on our campus.”
Student participants included Residence Halls Community Assistants, students from all the residence halls, the BlueChips Cheerleading Squad, the football team and Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated. Staff members who participated were: Mother Nita Byrd, Dr. Roland Bullard, Doris Bullock, Coach Michael Costa, Coach Tremayne Henry, Carlene Morgan, Andre Richardson and Marquita Wood.
