Falcon runs world-record 400-meter hurdles

catoRoxroy Cato (Sr./Jamaica) of Saint Augustine’s University was named USTFCCCA Division II National Men’s Athlete of the Week on Monday, April 7, 2014, after running a world-leading time of 48.67 seconds in the 400 meter hurdles at the Florida Relays over the weekend. USTFCCCA stands for United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

His winning time leads all NCAA divisions by nearly a full second. It ranks fourth all-time on the Division II performers list and equals the fastest time in NCAA Division II Championships history. Cato just missed the all-time college top 10 list by .13 of a second.

Cato is the 2014 Division II men’s indoor national champion in the 400 meters. He anchored the winning men’s 4×400 meter relay team to help St. Aug capture the men’s team national crown. In 2012, Cato competed in the Summer Olympics for Jamaica in the 400 meter hurdles.
