Ebola. That simple word has sent the United States of America into a complete uproar as the threat of the virus among the American people grows. I don’t feel, however, that the actions of those going into such frenzy are justified. Let’s take a look at the plain and simple fact of the Ebola virus, this virus is not a risk to the general public.
There is no way that you are at risk unless you are in direct contact with bodily fluids of someone with Ebola. Many of which, are kept stabilized away from the public. The paranoia that has surrounded this virus over the past months has done nothing but create a hostile society that is concerned with something that we have no control over.
I’m a firm believer that maintaining a healthy lifestyle should keep negative thoughts of such a fatal disease away. This virus isn’t a plague; it’s not the end of the world nor is it a cause for alarm. As long as we take care of ourselves and stop blowing many of today’s issues out of proportion, there is no reason why we can’t move on from this latest health scare as we’ve done others in the past. Don’t get me wrong, I understand the severity of a dangerous virus such as the Ebola virus but I also understand the progression that we’ve made in the United States when it comes to dealing with such crises.
There have been many procedures taken to handle the virus and we as American people should not worry about something we ultimately have no control over. We also shouldn’t try to make light of the situation because it’s a very serious disease that many have lost their lives from. We have the power to take the information we receive as far as the Ebola virus and either use it to stay informed and knowledgeable, or use it to drive us crazy and continue the panic. The choice is yours.
