Honors Convocation Will Be Held April 9th

It’s that time of year again for Saint Augustine’s University to recognize students for their outstanding scholastic achievements. The annual Honors Convocation will be held on April 9, at 10 a.m. in the Emery Gymnasium.
Students will be given awards for the spring and fall semesters of 2014. All students must attend this event – though, for many students, mandatory attendance is not a problem.

“I am very excited about honors convocation,” stated senior Mariah Jacques, a Theatre and Film major. Jacques will receive an award for being an honors scholar.  “This is my fourth year attending and it’s kind of bittersweet,” she added.

The convocation will be followed by ceremonies held by each department. The locations and times for those ceremonies will be announced at convocation.

There is a dress code for this event: Ladies must wear a black or blue business suit with a white blouse or black/blue dress and gentlemen must wear a  black or blue business suit with a white shirt and tie.

“I think it’s a good thing that we have to dress up,” stated first-semester senior Jamal Owens. “This is not just a regular event that the school is having; this is a very formal occasion.”

This event is open to the public and university officials have extended a welcome to friends and family to come out to support their loved ones.
