Raleigh, NC. — The Saint Augustine’s University track and field program will compete in the CIAA Championship in Charlotte, N.C., on April 16. The men’s Division II program is hoping to win their 18th straight title. The competition for the Falcons and Lady Falcons will begin at 9 a.m.
Nine teams are competing in the tournament. General admission is $5.
Saint Augustine’s University enters the CIAA Championship as the nation’s top-ranked Division II men’s team. The Falcons are the two-time defending men’s outdoor Division II champions. The Saint Augustine’s University women’s team is ranked fifth nationally in Division II.
Samantha Woodburn, a senior, thinks the Lady Falcons have a good chance.
“This year our track team members are young but very talented,” she said. “If we execute this weekend and remain focus, the girls will win the title. We have been working hard and do extremely well at the development meets, therefore we are confident about the championship.”
