RALEIGH, N.C. – Brittany Jamison (Fr./Summerville, SC) and Shakera Hall (Fr./Bridgetown, Barbados) combined for 20 kills as Saint Augustine’s University thumped Morris College 3-0 (25-12, 25-14, 25-15) in a non-conference women’s volleyball match at Emery Gymnasium on Friday, Oct. 9, 2015.
The Lady Falcons (7-7 overall) bounced back from Thursday’s conference loss to Fayetteville State University by amassing 38 kills to 11 for the Lady Hornets. Jamison and Hall sparked the Lady Falcons with 10 kills apiece. Juliseea Thomas (Sr./St. Croix, US Virgin Islands) dished out 25 assists while Zoey Isom (Fr./Phoenix, AZ) and Marley Parker (So./Langley, British Columbia) collected 13 digs and 10 digs, respectively.
The Lady Falcons also registered 11 service aces led by four apiece from Thomas and Olivia Porter (Jr./Bakersfield, CA). Meghan Mahon (Jr./Houston, TX) added two service aces.
Eniya Edwards paced the Lady Hornets (0-12 overall) with four kills. Imani Gibson and Tyesha Ravenell each had 10 digs.
The Lady Falcons were in charge from the outset. They jumped out to an 11-4 lead and never looked back on their way to victory in the first set. The second set was more of the same as the Lady Falcons used an 11-3 run to pull away from a 7-7 tie. In the third set, the Lady Falcons finished off the Lady Hornets after opening a 21-11 lead.
Lady Falcons’ Head Coach Nikki Bynum Bumpass substituted often in the easy victory. All 12 scholar-athletes in uniform saw action.
The Lady Falcons return to CIAA play on Monday, Oct. 12, against Livingstone College at New Trent Gymnasium in Salisbury, N.C. The match begins at 6 p.m.
