Falcons win offense and defensive players of the week

William Thomas (Sr./Yorktown, VA) of Saint Augustine’s University was selected CIAA Baseball Offensive Player of the Week and Mikal Batts (Jr./Kinston, NC) of Saint Augustine’s University was chosen CIAA Baseball Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday, March 8, 2016.
 
Thomas batted .529 in six games with nine hits, two doubles, one home run and five RBIs. His best game was a 2-for-3 hitting effort with a home run, double, two RBIs and two runs scored in the second game against the University of Virginia-Wise on Feb. 29. He leads the CIAA with a .364 batting average.
 
Batts recorded 10 putouts and one assist with no errors in five games for a 1.000 fielding percentage. The Falcons’ right fielder recorded four putouts in the first game against Pfeiffer University on March 1. Batts, tied for first in the conference with a 1.000 fielding percentage, has won two CIAA weekly defensive honors this season.
