SAU’s University Career and Graduate School EXPO will be held today — Thursday Sept. 29 — in the Julia Chester Emery Gymnasium. The event, which runs from 10 am to 1 pm, will be a great opportunity for students to gain knowledge of and meet representatives of the 50 participating companies and graduate schools.

All students must dress in business attire in order to participate in the event and to get the most out of it. For more insight on this matter, we spoke to Dr. Cindy Love, Director of Professional Development, as well as several SAU students. Their comments are below.

Dr. Cindy Love,
Director of Professional Development

Q:  How important is professional dress?

A: “It is important to make a great first impression. It is not what you say that will be remembered, however, it is how you carry yourself. That includes the total package. Your total package is equivalent to the value of your brand. You as an individual should create a brand that you can use to … show that you are a creditable person.”

Furthermore, Dr. Love asserts dressing professional is how an individual gives-off a better since of honor, it says, ‘I am important’. Dr. Love expounds on how dressing up can help you personally, “when one takes the time to dress professionally they not only look professional they can walk with their head held high and tall with confidence in who they are,” she said.
