CHARLOTTE, NC (March 18) – Saint Augustine’s University’s Anthony Soriano (Jr./Riverside, CA) was a co-winner in the men’s high jump in the 49er Classic track and field meet, which concluded Saturday, March 18 at the Irwin Belk Track & Field Center on the UNC Charlotte campus. Soriano leaped 6-2¾ to tie Rache McMillian of Allen University.
Saint Augustine’s University placed among the top 10 in six events. Taylor Eubanks (Sr./Everett, WA) was second in the men’s triple jump with a leap of 48-11 and the foursome of Shawn Rowe (Sr./West Palm Beach, FL), Khari Herbert, Jr. (Sr./Coral Springs, FL), Shaquille Dill (So./Pembroke, Bermuda) and Micah Sharpe placed third in the men’s 4×400-meter relay in 3:12.20. The trio of Rowe, Herbert and Dill was on the 4×400-meter relay squad which claimed the NCAA Division II indoor crown last week.
The women’s quartet of Tia-Adana Belle (Sr./St. George, Barbados), Iris Robinson (Jr./Birmingham, AL), Ade Hunter (Jr./Philadelphia, PA) and Leah Barker (Jr./St. Michaels, Barbados) placed sixth in the 4×400-meter relay in 3:48.54. Belle also finished eighth in the women’s 400-meter dash in 55.98.
The men’s team of Johnathan Robertson (Fr./Washington, DC), Shaquille Rodriquez (Jr./Williamson, NC), Adrian Kimmons (Jr./Cold Water, MS) and Nikolas Thomas (Fr./Capital Heights, MD) finished ninth in the 4×400-meter relay in 3:24.41. In addition to the top 10 finishers, Tamiya Dortch (Sr./Goldsboro, NC) was 11th in the women’s shot put with a toss of 40-1¼ and Michael Francis (Jr./Baltimore, MD) was 11th in the men’s triple jump with a mark of 46-1½.
