Falcon runners shine at ‘Last Chance’ meet

RALEIGH, N.C. (May 15) – On Sunday, May 14, Olympian Tia-Adana Belle (Sr./St. George, Barbados) won the women’s 100-meter hurdles as Saint Augustine’s University recorded eight NCAA qualifying times and marks in the Aggie Last Chance outdoor track and field meet at Irwin Belk Track in Greensboro, N.C.

Belle crossed the finish line first in 13.61 seconds. Her time was one of seven provisional qualifying times and marks for Saint Augustine’s University at the meet. Omar Johnson (Sr./St. Ann, Jamaica) ran an automatic qualifying time of 46.38 to place second in the men’s 400-meter dash. He posted the fastest college time in the event.

Shakinah Brooks (Sr./Raleigh, NC) was third in the women’s long jump with a provisional leap of 19-5.25 and the men’s 4×100-meter relay team was fourth in a provisional time of 40.52. The squad consisted of Johnson, Khari Herbert Jr. (Sr./Coral Springs, FL), Shawn Rowe (Sr./West Palm Beach, FL) and Adrian Kimmons (Jr./Cold Water, MS).

Rowe finished fifth in the men’s 110-meter hurdles in a provisional time of 14.20. Taylor Eubanks (Sr./Everett, WA) placed sixth in the men’s triple jump with a provisional mark of 48-10.75.

Ade Hunter (Jr./Philadelphia, PA) and Iris Robinson (Jr./Birmingham, AL) both ran provisional times in the women’s 400-meter dash. Hunter was sixth in 54.91 and Robinson placed seventh in 55.51.

The meet concluded the regular season for the Falcons and Lady Falcons. They will await the release of the official qualifiers this week for the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships which will be held May 25-27 in Bradenton, Fla. The Falcons are the four-time defending men’s national champions.
