SAU volleyball team earns season’s first victory

RALEIGH, NC (Sept. 17) – Saint Augustine’s University trounced Lincoln (Pa.) University 3-0 Sunday for its first volleyball win of the season on the final day of the CIAA Roundup I at the Gaines Center in Winston-Salem, N.C.

The win improved the Lady Falcons to 1-2 in the CIAA and 1-2 overall. Lincoln (Pa.) fell to 0-3 in the CIAA and 1-4 overall.

Shakera Hall (Jr./Bridgetown, Barbados) capped a tremendous weekend with 26 kills and 12 digs in the match. The Preseason All-CIAA outside hitter totaled 75 kills in three Roundup matches.

Taylor Irving (Fr./Litchfield, AZ) registered 32 assists, three service aces and five digs for the Lady Falcons, who won 25-10, 25-16, 25-23. Mechele Moss (Fr./Nassau, Bahamas) contributed seven kills, nine digs and four service aces, Chandra Mackey (Fr./Nassau, Bahamas) registered eight kills and Elisa Ray (Sr./Nashville, TN) finished with four service aces and six digs.

Aubrey Coleman and Mariah Russell had eight kills and seven kills, respectively, for Lincoln (Pa.). Alisa Foster collected 18 assists.

The Lady Falcons visit Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, N.C. on Thursday, Sept. 21. The match begins at 6 p.m.
