It’s that time of year again — summer time — which means students are graduating and a lot are moving out of the dorms and going home. But many students remain in the Raleigh area for the summer, and those students may be wondering what exactly there is to do during the summer in Raleigh.
Here are some ideas for your summer in Triangle area.
Museums:
Museums are the most-visited tourist places in North Carolina, and there are some good ones right here in Raleigh. The North Carolina Museum of Art began with just 75 paintings. Now, the museum has an impressive permanent collection that includes major European Renaissance paintings, Egyptian art, sculpture and vases from ancient Greece and Rome, and international modern art.
There is also The North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences. This museum is the largest natural history museum in the Southeast. The museum showcases a range of permanent collections and regularly changed special exhibits, live shows, and nature films for all ages. The museum’s goal is to offer visitors an opportunity to learn more about nature and science and their place in it.
Music:
There will be plenty of music entertainment in the summer. Post Malone is coming to Raleigh in June at Coastal Creek Park at Walnut Creek. The following week, Top Dawg Entertainment, featuring Kendrick Lamar and SZA, will be at the same venue. Anita Baker will perform at Durham Performing Arts Center (DPAC) in June.
Comedy:
There will also be some comedy acts during this summer with Katt Williams at the PNC Arena and Michael Che at the Carolina Theatre. Tickets range from $40-100. All ticket information can be located at Live Nation and Ticket Master.
Festivals:
In the beginning of June, Raleigh’s International Food Festival will be held at Downtown Raleigh and admission is free. There is also a year-round event that happens every-other weekend called Taste Carolina. This is a tour of Raleigh’s most historic places to eat. Prices range from $40-80. Check out the website for more details on the prices and more information.
Outdoors:
For those who are more action-oriented, there are plenty of things to do. Go Ape Treetop Adventure & Treetop Junior is an outdoor adventure park that has multiple obstacles through a forest canopy. The prices range from $28-58.
There will be some baseball around the area as well. The Durham Bulls will be hosting multiple games during this summer and prices range between $10-70. Carolina Mudcats will be at five County Stadium in Zebulon and prices range from $8-15.
But these are just a few of the things you can do for this summer in the Triangle area. For more information on these events, visit visitraleigh.com. Information about the Durham Bulls can be found at www.milb.com/durham. For information about the Anita Baker concert, visit www.dpacnc.com/
