Falcons score twice but fall to Division I foe

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (Sept. 1) – Running back Jeremiah Miller (Jr./Miami, FL) and quarterback John Darby IV (Fr./Detroit, MI) each scored a touchdown for Saint Augustine’s University in a 63-14 season-opening football loss to Division I FCS foe Jacksonville University at D.B. Milne Field on Saturday.
Miller scored from two yards out in the second quarter for the first Falcons’ touchdown of the season. Sean Smith (R-Sr./Valdosta, GA) booted the extra point to pull the Falcons within 14-7.
Darby added a touchdown in the fourth quarter on a one-yard sneak for the Falcons. Smith kicked the extra point for the final score. 
Miller led the Falcons in rushing with 81 yards and Darby added 48 yards on eight carries in a backup role. Wide receiver DeAndre Conley (Fr./Miami, FL) caught four passes for 46 yards and defensive back Sidney Lawson (So./Charlotte, NC) tallied eight tackles.
Next Saturday, Sept. 8, the Falcons visit their second straight Division I FCS opponent when they travel to Durham, N.C., to face North Carolina Central University. Kickoff is 6 p.m.
