RALEIGH, N.C. (Sept. 4) – Quarterback John Darby IV (Fr./Detroit, MI) of Saint Augustine’s University was selected CIAA Football Rookie of the Week on Tuesday.
The first-year signal-caller scored one of the Falcons’ two touchdowns against Division I FCS Jacksonville University on Saturday, Sept. 1. Darby crossed the goal line on a one-yard quarterback sneak in the fourth quarter.
Darby rushed for 48 yards on eight carries after entering the game late in the third quarter. He also completed 3 of 6 pass attempts for 30 yards.
The Falcons visit North Carolina Central University in Durham, N.C., on Saturday, Sept. 8, at 6 p.m. This will be their second consecutive Division I FCS opponent this season.
