RALEIGH, N.C. (Oct. 3) – Cross Country standouts Baron Freeman (Fr./Hampton, VA) and Amanda Crawford (So./Brooklyn, NY) of Saint Augustine’s University were honored by the CIAA on Wednesday. Freeman was named men’s conference runner of the week and Crawford was chosen women’s conference runner of the week.
Both runners produced fast times at the Greensboro Invitational in Greensboro, N.C., on Saturday, Sept. 29. Freeman finished first among Division II runners and second overall in the men’s 8K race with a time of 26:47.42. Crawford ran the third-best time among Division II runners and finished 10th overall in the women’s 5K race with a time of 22:02.53. This was the first meet of the season for Crawford.
The weekly award is the second for Freeman and the first for Crawford this season. Both runners and their SAU teammates will be in Cary, N.C., on Saturday, Oct. 6, for the Cedric Walker HBCU Challenge at WakeMed Soccer Park. The men’s 8K race begins at 9:30 a.m. followed by the women’s 5K race at 10:05 a.m.
