Bowling team set to host tournament

RALEIGH, N.C. (Jan. 24) – Saint Augustine’s University will host the CIAA Women’s Bowling Divisional Event II this weekend at AMF Pleasant Valley Lanes starting Friday, Jan. 25. Admission is free to the public.

The three-day tournament begins at 12 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 26, and 9 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 27. Team matches are Friday and Saturday, and Baker matches take place Sunday.

Makayla August bowling at last year’s CIAA Tournament

Ten teams, including Saint Augustine’s University, will compete this weekend in their respective Southern and Northern Division matches. The other institutions are Fayetteville State University, Shaw University, Johnson C. Smith University and Livingstone College in the Southern Division, and Bowie State University, Virginia State University, Virginia Union University, Elizabeth City State University and Chowan University in the Northern Division.

The Lady Falcons are currently second in the Southern Division after one event. Team members are Makayla August (So./Palm Springs, CA), Gia Minnis (Fr./Nassau, Bahamas), Myhikkah Morris (So./Nassau, Bahamas), Tanae Newry (So./Nassau, Bahamas), La’Tricha Parks (Sr./Henderson, NC), Haley Sessoms (Fr./Kenansville, NC) and Daisa Waiters (So./Florence, SC). Dot Neal is the head coach.
