Team turnovers ruin season-best performance as Lady Falcons lose to Livingstone

Shankia Clarke poured in a season-best 18 points

RALEIGH, N.C. (Jan. 31) – Shankia Clark (Jr./Orlando, FL) tied a season-high with 18 points for Saint Augustine’s University (SAU) in a 61-43 CIAA women’s basketball loss to Livingstone College at Emery Gymnasium on Wednesday, Jan. 30.

Clark also grabbed eight rebounds for the Lady Falcons, who outrebounded the Lady Blue Bears 48-40. She was 8 of 12 from the floor and added one block and one steal.

Kelsee Arnold (Sr./Fayetteville, GA) and Sha’nia Leach (So./Red Springs, NC) both added eight points, and Tanisha Wall (Jr./Franklinton, NC) tied Clark for game-high rebounding honors with eight. Angela Caraballo (Jr./Richmond, VA) and Bianca Igwe (Sr./Tampa, FL) each pulled down six rebounds.

The Lady Falcons grabbed an early seven-point lead but ended up trailing 15-11 after the first period. The Lady Blue Bears (3-2 Southern Division, 6-15 overall) increased their lead to double digits during the game. They led by 22 points in the third period.

Daisa Harris led three double-figure scorers with 16 points for the Lady Blue Bears, who outscored the Lady Falcons 23-8 in turnover points.

After hosting seven of their last eight games, the Lady Falcons (2-4 Southern Division, 3-16 overall) hit the road for three consecutive contests starting Saturday, Feb. 2, against Fayetteville State University in Fayetteville, N.C. Tipoff is 2 p.m.
