Jackson’s win leads SAU Track & Field to 14 top ten finishes at Aggie invitational

RALEIGH, N.C. (April 14) – Najair Jackson (So./Spanish Town, Jamaica) led Saint Augustine’s University to 14 top ten finishes with a victory in the men’s javelin throw at the Aggie Invitational,
a two-day track and field meet which concluded in Greensboro, N.C., on Saturday.

Jackson placed first with a provisional qualifying toss of 212-3 in the event. His throw was one of nine provisional marks and times set by the Falcons and Lady Falcons at the meet, held at Irwin Belk Track on the N.C. A&T State University campus.

Three Falcons finished among the top five in the men’s 400 hurdles. Nathan Ferguson (Fr./St. Thomas, Barbados) was third in a provisional time of 52.72 and Alazae Hester-Taylor (Sr./Homewood, AL) was fourth in a provisional time of 52.86. Christian Smith (Sr./Atlanta, GA) placed fifth in a provisional time of 53.26.

Shaquille Dill (Sr./Pembroke, Bermuda) was third in the men’s 800 run in a provisional time of 1:51.26 and Danielle Scantlebury (Fr./St. George, Barbados) finished fifth in the women’s 100 hurdles in a provisional time of 14.12 after qualifying for the finals with a provisional time of 13.88. Smith finished seventh in the men’s 110 hurdles in a provisional time of 14.48 after posting a provisional time of 14.25 in the prelims.
