SAU Men’s Track & Field highway National championship sign receives local Media coverage

RALEIGH, N.C. (April 10) – The Interstate 40 (I-40) Highway Sign honoring the 2017 Saint Augustine’s University NCAA Division II Men’s Outdoor Track & Field National Championship Team drew the attention of the local media this week.

An article about the highway sign, installed by the N.C. Dept. of Transportation, is in Wednesday’s (April 10) edition of The News & Observer daily newspaper and the newsobserver.com. The sign is located between Exit 299 and Exit 300 (Rock Quarry Exit) going eastbound on I-40 highway in Raleigh, N.C. It is the second collegiate highway sign approved by the N.C. Board of Transportation under a new program. The sign will stay up for two years.

Overall, the SAU men and women have combined to win 39 NCAA Division II national championships during the indoor and outdoor track & field seasons under legendary head coach George Williams. He has won the most NCAA national track and field championships of any coach, regardless of division.
