RALEIGH, N.C. (April 2) – The outdoor track & field trio of Amanda Crawford (Jr./Brooklyn, NY), Nathan Fergusson (Fr./St. Thomas, Barbados) and Najair Jackson (So./Spanish Town, Barbados) of Saint Augustine’s University were honored by the CIAA conference on Tuesday.
Crawford and Fergusson were chosen CIAA women’s and men’s track athletes of the week, respectively, and Jackson was selected CIAA men’s field athlete of the week. All three earned accolades for their outstanding performances against Division I competition at the Florida Relays over the weekend.
Both Crawford and Fergusson are ranked No. 1 nationally in their respective events after posting top Division II times at the meet. Crawford ran a provisional qualifying time of 54.04 in the women’s 400 dash and Fergusson recorded a provisional time of 52.07 in the men’s 400 hurdles.
In the relays, Crawford keyed the women’s 4×400 squad to victory and a top national Division II ranking in an automatic qualifying time of 3:35.03. Ferguson helped the men’s 4×100 and 4×400 teams sprint to the No. 1 spot in the national DII rankings. The 4×100 squad crossed the finish line in a provisional time of 40.36 and the 4×400 unit blazed to an automatic time of 3:05.61.
Jackson won the men’s javelin throw at the meet with a provisional toss of 220-3. His throw ranks third nationally in Division II.
