A New President has Arrived

As reported back in April, the former vice president, Dr. Gaddis Faulcon was appointed as the new interim president on March 12, 2019. This decision was made after the former President, Dr. Everett Ward announced his retirement back in January of this year. Before Faulcon was made president, he had served as the school’s vice president till he retired back in January of 2018.

We went around and asked a few students on their take of the new president and what qualities they look for in one as well. Timbrel Cunningham, a senior communications major says “I think it’s great that we have a new president because now we can see the changes taking place however I would like to see the changes that could actually help the upperclassmen. When I think of a president, I think of somebody who is stern but fair, hard working and they have to have the ability to create a safe environment.”

Charteone Taylor, a junior mass communication major says “I’m excited that we have a new president because things seem to be getting better on campus and when you state a problem to him, it gets done. I feel like things are gonna get better now that we have a new president. Things that I look for in a president are honesty and just someone who can get the campus back on track.”

Before becoming president, Faulcon was known for making an impact on the campus as far as student enrollment rising from 2015 to 2017. In addition, Faulcon was also taking action towards making sure students had a pleasant resident hall experience as well as contributing in the Division of Student Affairs that helped improve campus life as well as student morale.

Students say they look forward to seeing Faulcon remaining as the president once his interim has ended.
