SAU falls to Winston-Salem in home opener

RALEIGH, N.C. (Sept. 30) – Saint Augustine’s University fell to Winston-Salem State University 3-0 in a CIAA Southern Division women’s volleyball matchup at Emery Gymnasium on Monday. The match was the home opener for the Lady Falcons.

Deandra Small (Fr./St. Philip, Barbados) collected six kills and added six digs for the Lady Falcons, who lost 25-7, 25-12, 25-17. Janina Mayers (So./Christ Church, Barbados) recorded a team-high 14 digs.

Ytae Cobb sparked the Rams (1-1 Southern Division, 3-5 overall) with 13 kills. Her teammate Sanaa Lanier finished with nine kills.

The Lady Falcons (0-3 Southern Division, 0-3 overall) head to Ettrick, Va., this weekend to play in the CIAA Round-Up I. They will face Northern Division opponents Virginia State University, Lincoln (Pa.) University and Virginia Union University.
