SAU Women’s Basketball hosts Piedmont International Saturday

RALEIGH, N.C. (Nov. 29) – Saint Augustine’s University seeks its second win this week in a home women’s basketball game on Saturday, Nov. 30.
The Lady Falcons host Piedmont International University at Emery Gymnasium. Tipoff is 2 p.m.
Tickets are $9 for general admission and $5.50 for faculty and staff, military personnel with ID, senior citizens, visiting college students with ID and children ages 6 to 12. Admission is free for SAU students with valid ID and children ages 5 and under per one paying adult.

The Lady Falcons are coming off a 69-66 win over William Peace University at Hermann Athletic Center on Wednesday, Nov. 27. They improved to 3-2 overall, which is their best record in their first five games since the 2011-12 season.
Kaaliya Williams (Sr./Richmond, VA) and Quiera Gilmore (Sr./Charlotte, NC) scored 14 points and 12 points, respectively, for the Lady Falcons in the victory. For the season, Gilmore averages 15 points and Williams averages 14 points. Angela Caraballo (Sr./Richmond, VA), who scored 10 points against William Peace, averages 8.4 points.
Gilmore ranks 11th nationally in Division II and second in the CIAA in steals per game (3.8). Kamya Renwicks (Sr./Baltimore, MD) ranks eighth in the CIAA in steals per game (2.4) and Jordyn Burton (So./Durham, NC) leads the conference in blocked shots per game (1.6).
As a team, the Lady Falcons rank 11th nationally in Division II in turnovers forced per game (25) and 30th in steals per game (12). They are third in the CIAA in field goal percentage defense (33.2) and third in three-point field percentage defense (25.6).
The SAU women look to snap Piedmont International’s three-game win streak. The Lady Bruins (4-1 overall) defeated Meredith College 61-59 in their last game on Nov. 25, in Raleigh, N.C. Their only loss was to CIAA member Winston-Salem State University (98-56).
Aja’ White is the Lady Bruins’ scoring leader with a 15-point average. Alysia McLeod averages 10.6 points and 8 rebounds, and LeOnzerrae Grubbs averages 10.5 points.
