SAU women’s volleyball team falls in season finale

RALEIGH, N.C. (Nov. 15) – Deandra Small (Fr./St. Philip, Barbados) finished with 11 kills and eight digs for Saint Augustine’s University in a 3-0 CIAA women’s volleyball loss to Claflin University in the season finale at Emery Gymnasium on Friday.

Brittany Jamison (Sr./Charleston, SC) added 10 kills and three blocks for the Lady Falcons in her final collegiate match. The only senior on the squad, Jamison was recognized between the second and third sets on Senior Night.

Malique Webb (So./St. Catherine, Jamaica) handed out 26 assists and totaled eight digs, and Janina Mayers (So./Christ Church, Barbados) registered 24 digs for the Lady Falcons (0-12 Southern Division, 0-17 CIAA, 0-17 overall). Tia Jones (So./Bridgetown, Barbados) had two blocks and one ace.

Taylor Drayton paced the Lady Panthers (3-9 Southern Division, 6-11 CIAA, 7-17 overall) with eight kills and added seven digs. Makaylen Crosby collected seven kills and Erin Preston accumulated 26 assists, 10 digs and two aces for Claflin, who won 25-22, 25-13, 25-19.
