RALEIGH, N.C. (Feb. 21) – Fresh off a stellar showing at the CIAA Championships, Saint Augustine’s University will compete in the USC Indoor Open track & field meet in Columbia, S.C., on Saturday, Feb. 22. The meet starts at 9 a.m. at the Carolina Indoor Track and Field Complex.
On Monday, Feb. 17, Saint Augustine’s University shared the CIAA men’s indoor title in Winston-Salem, N.C., to extend its 23-year championship streak. The Lady Falcons were the CIAA women’s indoor runner-ups.
This is the final meet for the Falcons and Lady Falcons before the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships next month. The championship meet is set for March 13-14 in Birmingham, Ala.
The SAU track & field program is a national powerhouse, having combined for 39 NCAA Division II titles during the indoor and outdoor seasons. The men’s and women’s teams are led by the legendary George Williams, who leads all active coaches in NCAA national championships, regardless of division and sport. He has the third-most national crowns in NCAA history.
