The doors to the Ritz Raleigh opened at 7 p.m. and Lil Baby was scheduled to hit the stage at 9 p.m. but didn’t start performing until about 9:45. The show was worth waiting for.
Lil Baby came out rapping one of his hit singles, “Yes indeed.” He performed 16 songs including “All of a Sudden,” “Moneybagg Yo,” “Oh Okay,” “Life Goes On,” “Never Needed no Help,” “Cash,” “My Dawg,” “Drip Too Hard,” “Southside,” “Exotic,” and “Freestyle.”
He is being hailed as a breakout star. Pitchfork magazine said this about him: “On a purely technical level, he’s impressive. His words are vivid, his emotions pronounced, and his flow is frictionless; he hovers just over every beat like a puck on an air hockey table.”
I can honestly say that I had a great time at the concert. Lil Baby may be a new artist but he is showing in his “Harder Than Ever” tour that he’s really one of the best out there right now and he’s also signed to the best label – QC (Quality Control Music).
Lil Baby’s real name is Dominique Jones. He was 10 years old when he started running in the streets. As seen in the documentary about his life, Lil Baby got his rap name from him being the youngest in the streets at the time.
Lil Baby has one son and now has another on the way with his girlfriend, the famous Jayda Cheaves, better known as Jayda Wayda.
If this is only the beginning of Lil Baby’s career, I can’t wait to see what the future holds.
