In interviews since releasing the album, the 23-year-old singer explained that the title of her album efers to the fact that she’s basically over with life at this point. This attitude comes despite her phenomenal success.
The album ut up some big numbers and is still trending. “Over It” is the biggest debut album of any R&B female artist in over 10 years. Summer was the first female R&B artist in more than 10 years to have the biggest debut album. The album earned the biggest streaming week ever for an R&B album by a woman.
Billboard statistics show that Walker earned 154.7 million on-demand audio streams for the album’s songs, breaking the record set by Beyoncé’s Lemonade with 115.2 million in 2016. Walker was also the first female R&B artist in more than 10 years to have the biggest debut album.
My favorite song on the album is “Stretch You Out” simply because it talks about the insecurities in men and how they can try to turn it around to make it seem like the woman is to blame for it all — simply because they have all these wants and needs but don’t deserve it.
This whole album really talks about situations that all women can relate to and it’s things we go through day to day.
It’s not just me. The album seems to be a favorite on Saint Augustine’s campus.
“My favorite song on the album is ‘Just Might’ because she’s saying you make so many mistakes that you just can’t get it right and you just have to do what you have to do to get back on the right path.” said Jennifer Hunt junior.
Antania Hester, a sophomore, added: “My favorite is ‘Potential’ because she’s working hard to be right for you.”
I highly recommend this new album from Summer Walker, who has arrived in the scene in a big way and it looks like she is going to stay on top.
